Before you go and try and use Connection Pooling without reading anything on it... like the idiot I was... check out this article from Java World. It's a nice write up on the principles behind connection pools and how to properly write a connection using them.

You know those moments you have at your first job out of college as a professional developer? You look back on the thing you learned not even 6 months later and the thing you were having trouble with just looks silly? Well apparently in November 2007 I learned connection pooling and decided to tell the whole world something obvious and record that newbie-developer-moment for everyone to see :)
